Honestly, my room doesn’t look half as good as this.
Baby River is one lucky baby.

KK August 2012

Sun 12 Aug 2012
Dinner with Bikia who was in KL for two weeks, on a business trip and condo hunting for KL posting in September.

Sat 18 Aug 2012
Back for the Hari Raya holidays. As Astro was showing the repeat telecast of the Olympics up to 21 August, I managed to catch a few events the next few days such as swimming, diving, athletics, gymnastics and synchronised swimming.

Tues 21 Aug 2012
Watched the opening and closing ceremony for London 2012 Olympics. The best part of the opening ceremony was James Bond (Daniel Craig) arriving at Buckingham Palace to escort Her Masjesty QE II to the opening ceremony, in a helicopter. "Never had Her Majesty been introduced to her public in a manner like that" the commentator said, after the "Queen" jumped out of the helicopter while it was hovering above the stadium.

It was probably the best kept secret of the year. Here is Prince William and Prince Harry's take on the latest Bond girl.

Prince William and his younger brother Harry said they were as much surprised by their grandmother’s appearance alongside Britain’s most famous fictional spy James Bond as the tens of millions watching on their televisions and the 60,000 sitting in the stadium.

In one of the most memorable parts of the evening, the Queen, in a pre-recorded clip, was shown being escorted by actor Daniel Craig from Buckingham Palace to a waiting helicopter after uttering the immortal words “Good evening Mr Bond”.

They then appeared to jump out of the helicopter before landing in Olympic Park.

“To be honest we were kept completely in the dark about it, that’s how big the secret was,” William told BBC television.

“I mean Harry got a sniff of a rumour on the night, and we were talking about it, going ‘nah’ this probably isn’t happening.

“But in fact she did such a good performance that she has now been asked to star in the next Bond film, so I’m thrilled for her.”

Showing the same understated sense of humour as their grandmother, Harry added: “Both of us were slightly surprised with our grandmother’s secret hobby that she had of parachuting, which I think went down unbelievably well.

“You don’t expect the Queen to do something like that. What she does in her spare time is, you know, that’s her spare time. But I think unbelievably good sport for her to do that. I can’t quite believe it when I see those pictures back.”

Wed 23 Aug 2012
Haircut at Central Plaza, where you can also shop for clothes. There's no jostling crowd to contend with as this place is pretty quiet.

Thurs 23 Aug 2012
Had lunch with Jackie and Lanash before going for facial in the afternoon. The most agonising part is the blackhead extraction. If only there is a less painful method ...

We had dinner with Beh Ling, back from Singapore. She mistakenly thought that Hari Raya was this weekend instead of last weekend.

Fri 24 Aug 2012
Dinner with aunty Soo Lee at Welcome Restaurant at Asia City. Dinner was RM97 for five of us! It was very reasonably priced for 2 dishes of vegetables, tofu, steam fish and scallop. It had been raining since 6 PM so we decided to go to Suria Sabah (with covered car park) to jalan-jalan after dinner.

Even though we were not hungry, Beh Ling had a craving for KFC (Singapore KFC pales in comparison to Sabah KFC). We ordered 2 piece of fried chicken for supper. Delicious!

Sat 25 Aug 2012
A visit to the Museum to look for local paintings. Beh Ling had hit on a notion to buy two to decorate her wall, preferably paintings of Mount Kinabalu. Can't remember the last time I was at the Museum. For Beh Ling, her last visit was during St. Francis school days.

I was not in the first picture as I was taking the photo

In the afternoon, we were off to Suria Sabah to do some shopping. It turned out to be "shop like there’s no tomorrow". Beh Ling and I spent RM498 at Metrojaya. Actually, all the items were on sale. We saved RM296 for 3 t-shirts, 3 blouse, 1 cheong sam and 1 skirt. Really.

Then dinner at the Club, to replenish our energy after the marathon shopping spree.

Sun 26 Aug 2012
Early morning visit to Gaya Street to look for local paintings, as we didn't find any suitable paintings at the Museum. Beh Ling bought 3 paintings by local artists costing RM100 (for two) and RM110.

KK CNY 2012

Sat 21 Jan 2012
Back from Singapore on Friday midnight. Then I spent the morning doing laundry, house-cleaning and packing before leaving for the airport. Touch down at KK airport at 8 PM and had late dinner with mummy and papa.

Sun 22 Jan 2012
Beh Ling’s flight was delayed by 1 hour so we went ahead with the reunion dinner without her. She had hers at 10 PM.

CNY Mon 23 Jan 2012
Bikia and Emy arrived from Sibu in time for dinner and it is now full house at the dinner table.

CNY Tues 24 Jan 2012
We had a short trip to City Mall for some shopping before heading home for lunch. After that, it was another outing, to One Borneo for more shopping. It was pouring rain when we left One Borneo. In fact, it has been raining every evening since we were back.

Despite the fact that it was CNY, it was Bollywood night at home as we watched a romantic comedy starring Shahid Kapoor.

We called Abi at 11.30 PM to ask him how was his CNY. We found out the good news that there will be a dragon baby addition to the Lee family.

Wed 25 Jan 2012
I had to wake up early for 9.15 AM appointment at SMC. Then we headed to town to do our various errands. After that, we had late lunch of fried fish, vegetables, tou foo and fried eggs at the Club.

After dinner, it was time for part II of the Shahid Kapoor romantic comedy to find out whether he and Priya had a happy ending. Mummy made another call to Abi during one of the song routines. Papa had been considering Chinese names for the new addition. Abi said no Chinese name required.

Thur 26 Jan 2012
We arrived at 9.30 AM for dim-sum breakfast and had to queue to get a table for a feast of sui mai, wu kok and ha kau.

It was a nail-biting match between Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer for the Australian Open semi-finals. We had to leave at 7 PM to go for seafood dinner, as Abikia had been craving for crabs.

Fri 27 Jan 2012
Late lunch at 1.30 after Bikia and Emy returned from their Tenom train ride. Then it was time for me to meet The Dentist, Dr. Ho, whose work had been admired by many other dentists who have asked me whether I had my crowning done in UK.

He remembered that it was RM600 for a crown back in 1984, the year after he started his practice. He gave the verdict that the crowns were still in good condition.

It was Andy Murray against Novak Djokovic for the other semi-finals in the evening. The Scot was not giving up without a fight.

After dinner, we went over to the Club to take our shower as water was running low at home. Then it was a mad rush to Suria for Beh Ling to do her last-minute shopping. Meanwhile, Abikia and Emy purchased a new fridge for our KK home.

Sat 28 Jan 2012
We arrived at the Club for photo session before our early lunch of lamb, beef, hor fun and cheese with crackers. Then it was off to the airport for Beh Ling’s and Bikia’s flight to Singapore and KL.

The guys

I was not too keen to watch the women’s final as it was billed as a match featuring the princesses of wails, Maria Sharapova and Victoria Azarenka. Their groaning and grunting are louder than the men !

Sun 29 Jan 2012
My turn to be at the airport for 2.05 PM flight back to KL.

I did not get to watch Rafa against Novak for the finals of Australian Open. Read in the papers later that it was an epic match lasting nearly 6 hours with world no. 1 Novak emerging as champion.

Mummy and papa was in KL for a meeting, staying at Pearl Hotel at Old Klang Road. While I attended KPMG Toastmasters meeting, they went shopping at One Utama. Then we drove over to Bangsar to visit mummy's old friend, kiu che. Her daughter Callie is mummy's god-daughter.

July 2011 Klang

We had a family get together in Klang to celebrate papa's 70th birthday. Papa's schoolmates were also invited. Abi flew in from Austin for the special occassion. Bikia and Emy flew in from Calgary. They have been posted there since Dec 2010.

We decided to have studio photos taken as it was an epic event for everyone to be back at the same time. We had to carefully consider the photo backdrop as the available selection were rather limited. We finally decided on the orange background with the photographer's promise to touch up the backgroud for the family group photo (see the grey background in the photo below).

Went to Klang to be part of the entourage sending aunt Didi to the airport. After dinner, we headed to the airport and was at McDonald's for some fries. Just before leaving, Felicia told her mum she already misses Klang as she had a good time here.
