April Visit

It has been many years since we drove over to Taman Kinabalu to visit the Chen family. Ah Yu Di (Yuenie) had contacted me a few days ago and suggested a family gathering which I readily agreed to. As mummy and papa had no objection, we agreed on Sat 20 April 11 AM for the visit.

Went out to Taman Fortuna to buy nasi lemak, curry puff (vegetarian and non-vegetarian version) and herbal eggs for our brunch gathering. The gate was opened when we arrived and we drove in and parked the car. Aunty Linda was the first to hug mummy as she got out of the car. Then uncle Chen also gave her a hug. Both of them looked exactly the same as when we last saw them (probably 15 years ago or more).

Aunty Linda still goes for her weekly Patrick Saloon visit on Sunday morning. I was wearing Beh Ling's blue blouse and like old times, Ah Yu Di is slightly envious as she has no sibling to share clothes with. She is working as a physio therapist and does not have a fixed working hour. Uncle Chen is as kind-hearted and considerate as he was in the past. He once said the 3 of us (mummy, Beh Ling and I) are 3 sisters when we took our CNY photo as their place many years ago.

Easter Weekend

Beh Ling and Abikia was back for 29 March Good Friday weekend to celebrate mummy's birthday. We started the busy weekend with a family call on Saturday morning to discuss on the plans for KK June visit.

Then we went out for Saturday lunch at the Club consisting of fish, vegetables and rice. For dessert, we had cheese cake which aunty Su Lee gave us in the morning. 

We went over to aunty Su Lee's place just before 6 PM to pick her up and went for Italian dinner at Grazie, next to Mercure Hotel. There was only a tight parking spot available and Abikia was able to manoeuvre the car into the tiny spot. Dinner consisted of Grazie salad, ravioli, spaghetti carbonara and pizza. The food was delicious (RM208). The tiramisu birthday cake was for mummy and my birthday celebration. We would definitely be coming here for future birthday celebrations :) 

The next day aunty Su Lee made a big bowl of delicious red bean soup for us. Each of us had several servings. 

For Monday dinner, Abikia cooked spaghetti carbonara and made a small batch for aunty Su Lee. She had mentioned that she loves spaghetti during our Saturday dinner so it was a perfect gift for her. Beh Ling went with him to deliver the spaghetti and returned her serving bowl.

CNY

We went out for lunch at the Club on Sat 3 Feb. It took some time for mummy to walk from the car to the dining room but at least she is able to walk on her own with the help of her walker. Aunty Jocelyn Chung chit-chat with us while we had our nasi lemak and hor fun lunch.

For the festive occasion, Beh Ling brought back lots of snack food. Needless to say, we had lots of post-meal snacks and chat sessions.

Reunion dinner was on Fri 9 Feb and our visiting chef Abikia did his magic to feed the hungry family. 

The next day, we had our CNY call with Austin family. Rain's floppy hair-do is something which would not have been allowed for Malaysian students. 

After the family call, we went to the Club for CNY lunch. This year it was just a simple photo shoot session at the Club.

The 3 of us were at Sutera Harbour on 11 Feb, after both parents have gone to bed. It was the enjoy the light breeze and night scenery at the hotel. 

Year End Visit

Sat 2 Dec 2023

Parents were in town for their end of the year visit. We had lunch at Nu Sentral consisting of assam laksa, curry bee hoon, bak kut chicken and cendol at Penang Cendol. The bak kut dish was tasteless, a bad rendition of a promising dish. This sentence is inspired by watching episodes from Season 12 to 15 of one of my favourite show, Masterchef Australia.

We went over to Bangsar South to have lunch at Public House. Was planning on having the set lunch of fish & chips but unfortunately this was not available on a weekend. We had pasta, nachos and hokkien mee instead. 

We were reminded that Christmas is just around the corner and took some pictures with the festive Christmas tree as the backdrop.

The food and sight-seeing tour continues with a visit to Lot 10 for lunch consisting of hokkien mee and hor fun, and a visit to Pavillion after lunch.

Sat 9 Dec 2023

We decided to visit the Japanese Garden at Shah Alam, Section 14. With 2 wedding shoots and graduation picture taking in progress while we were there, it's clearly a popular spot for scenic photos.

Sun 10 Dec 2023

We had dim sum lunch at Oriental Treasure, Bangsar South. For dessert, we went to Tongkat Nyonya for cendol and cucur udang. Needless to say no one went hungry during this year end trip.

River & Rain

River and Rain's school fall photos are out and they look quite grown up.

River is in 5th grade and Rain is in 2nd grade.
